In March we said goodbye to our first very own announcer - the Voice of Rhys’Un - and now it’s time to start looking for someone new to join the family! Could it be you?

We’re gearing up for our next home game on 7^th July (a double header) and we need someone to come and help us by guiding the crowd through what’s happening on track, who they’re watching (and where the bar is)!

You don’t need to know all the rules!

If you are enthusiastic about the game and willing to put the time in the rules will come soon enough. We will invite you to a few scrimmages and give you a non-skating league member to talk you through what’s happening. And you won’t be alone on bout day either - we’re hoping to pair you up with a Brawler as your announcing buddy.

You need to be able to excite the crowd, speak loudly and clearly and most of all have a good time!

We’re really looking forward to be doing something a bit different (it’s different for us, we know pub quizzes have happened before) and to hopefully getting to know some of our wonderful fans and supporters a bit better with some drinks and quizzy fun-times.

Sunday 10 June

Tiger Bay Brawlers pub quiz at GwdiHw Cafe Bar. This is going to be pretty special; what better way to spend your Sunday evening than with the Brawlers getting all quizzical? Information coming soon!

Saturday 7 July

We’re bringing you DOUBLE HEADER joy, as both our A and B teams face off against opponents who we’ll confirm shortly. We’re just finishing up some details and then you can get all excited with us!

Our next bout is THIS SATURDAY vs. Lincolnshire Bombers Bombshell Bruisers on their home turf! LBRG helped us when setting up the Brawlers and this is the first time we’ll have faced them on the track. It’s going to be awesome and you could be there!

Exciting news to kick-start your weekend - we have 19 spaces left on the Tiger Bay Brawler bus to Lincoln next Saturday, 26th May - the day we take on the mighty Lincolnshire Bombers Bombshell Bruisers on their home turf!

Seats on the bus are £15 return from Cardiff City Centre (outside the museum), leaving Cardiff at 7am (we know, eurgh, but it’ll be worth it) and leaving Lincoln at 9pm.

AS IF travelling to the bout with the Brawlers wasn’t enough, we’ll also be joined by CRoC who are bouting in Lincoln that day too as they take on LBRG’s Damebusters - so it’s a double header and one not to be missed.

A huge thank you to everyone who partook in the bout survey we put out earlier this year. It seems there’s a division amongst our supporters as to whether Newport Centre or Talybont is the better venue, and both have pros and cons which we’ll address a little more in our responses below.

We didn’t want you to think our bout survey was just something we did tokenistically (we know that’s not a word, but you get what we mean), so we’ve gone through the responses and tried to address some of the comments or questions that came up a few times. Please know that none of this is a defensive tactic against any feedback/criticism – we welcome it all and can only get better by taking it on board – but we just thought we should be a bit more transparent with our fans about what we do and how and why we do it.

Photos from Tiger Bay Brawlers vs Bristol Harbour Harlots - another closed door bout this week, this time for TBB’s B team. Bristol came out on top 231 - 191; it was a really exciting close run bout with quite a few lead changes.

Our B team took on the Bristol Harbour Harlots on Sunday in a nail-biting game which saw several lead changes before Bristol fought hard and took the lead.

Some photos from the Tiger Bay Brawlers bout against Middlesbrough Milk Rollers on Sunday. It was a closed-door bout, the first I’ve taken photos of, so the lack of audience noise and announcers was a bit weird at first but actually helped me pay more attention to what was going on on the track. Final score: TBB 204 - 102 MMR - whoop!
